  1. A new data deposition process is good news for crystallographers

    Suzanna Ward – Mon, 23 Jun 2014 14:07:00 GMT
As announced in our latest News Item, we are delighted by the launch of our next generation of CCDC Deposition services. Some of our depositors may have used our web-service before but this new service will make it even easier for chemists to deposit their data at the CCDC.

Details of the enhancements offered by the new process are described in the News Item and are accessed from our website home page. I urge you to take a look. The new process has been thoroughly tested by a panel of some of our regular depositors, and we have benefitted greatly from their feedback and observations. I hope you’ll agree that the new process is a great step forward.

  2. New CCDC Website Released

    Ian Thomas – Fri, 01 Mar 2013 16:53:00 GMT

On Monday afternoon, our new SharePoint-powered website completed its public beta test phase and was officially released. After months of testing, incorporating user feedback and implementing enhancements, we are very pleased to be able to announce formally this first version of the site. It is now accessible via our standard www.ccdc.cam.ac.uk web address.

The technical changes needed to facilitate this release went very smoothly, and resulted in virtually no interruption of service. We took this opportunity to roll out new load balancing capabilities, which are now responsible for managing all incoming traffic to our website and most of our public web services. This offers significant benefits through the centralised management of our web services and redirects, and should offer maximum flexibility to respond to changing requirements in future, without disrupting access to existing systems. You shouldn’t notice the difference – but we will all be able to deploy new features with a high degree of confidence that acceptable service levels will be maintained.

  3. Please tell us your views!

    Seth Wiggin – Fri, 25 May 2012 11:11:00 GMT
Given the task of redeveloping the CCDC website, it was decided to look at everything again - both in terms of the site layout and the content. It was felt that the current website had been allowed to develop with new pages added as and when they were required, and a new site gave the opportunity to arrange things differently. We’ve taken a fresh look at the site as a whole, with the aim of producing a better overall experience for the user. To this end we’ve made quite extensive changes to the layout and added lots of new content, hopefully giving a better idea of all the activities that go on at CCDC.

We’ve worked on trying to make it easy to see the full range of products and services the CCDC offers. A new feature is the Solutions Guide (in the Solutions section) that recommends tools to help with aspects of your work in the broad categories of structure based drug design, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical formulation and development, crystallography and research and education. We’ve also improved our customer support by providing a comprehensive database of FAQs, to help you solve any issues you come across as quickly as possible. All software downloads are now accessible from a single page, and a new resources section offers material such as case studies, videos and CSD statistics.
