Why do I have a problem displaying labels on Linux?

Solution

Mercury tries to use the native OpenGL libraries for your Linux distribution. However if you are experiencing any problems with Mercury's display this is most likely because the OpenGL libraries on your system cannot support all the functions that Mercury uses. In this case we would recommend that you download and install the latest OpenGL drivers for your system and ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date (ideally downloaded direct from the manufacturer's website).

Alternatively you can switch back to using the libraries which are distributed with Mercury by starting mercury from the command line with the flag "-mesa", although use of Mercury in this way is no longer supported.
